  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal Substitute with more Rice or Corn Chex for gluten-free options
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 1 cup salted mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup M&M or chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (121°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzels, and mixed nuts. Toss gently to avoid crushing the cereal.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved (about 1-2 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
  • Pour the butter mixture over the dry ingredients, using a spatula to fold everything together until evenly coated.
  • Spread the mixture on the prepared baking sheet, bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, sprinkle M&Ms or chocolate chips over the warm mixture, and allow to cool completely before storing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness. For lower sugar options, replace brown sugar with coconut sugar or honey.
