Wrap Ingredients

  • 4 pieces large flour tortillas (10-12 inch) Substitutes: whole wheat, corn, or low-carb tortillas.
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs Substitutes: rotisserie chicken, plant-based options.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Substitutes: avocado oil, coconut oil.
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning or preferred spice blend Substitutes: cajun seasoning, Italian herbs.
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce Substitutes: spinach, bell peppers, avocado.
  • 1 cup diced tomato Remove excess seeds and juice to prevent sogginess.
  • ½ cup sliced cucumber
  • ¼ cup diced red onion Soaking in water reduces sharpness.
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese Substitutes: feta, pepper jack, or dairy-free cheese.
  • ¼ cup ranch dressing, yogurt sauce, or salsa Substitutes: hummus, guacamole, tzatziki.

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken

  • Slice 1 pound of chicken into even strips approximately ½-inch thick.
  • Toss chicken strips with olive oil and seasoning blend until evenly coated.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add remaining oil.
  • Add chicken strips in a single layer, cook for 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Let the chicken rest for 3 minutes before slicing into smaller pieces.

Prepare Your Vegetables and Toppings

  • Wash all vegetables thoroughly.
  • Shred lettuce, dice tomato and cucumber, and finely dice red onion.
  • Prepare any additional toppings and cheese.

Warm the Tortillas

  • Heat tortillas in a dry skillet for 20-30 seconds per side, or microwave wrapped in damp paper towels.
  • Keep warm tortillas covered until ready to use.

Assemble Your Wrap

  • Place a warm tortilla on a flat surface.
  • Spread 1-2 tablespoons of sauce in the center, leaving a 2-inch border.
  • Layer in lettuce, cooked chicken, vegetables, and cheese.
  • Add an additional drizzle of sauce if desired.

Fold and Roll the Wrap

  • Fold the bottom edge of the tortilla up over the filling.
  • Fold in the left and right sides toward the center.
  • Continue rolling the wrap away from you until completely closed.

Notes

For easier assembly, prepare a 'mise en place' with all ingredients in small bowls. Don't overstuff wraps to avoid tearing. Serve with complementary side dishes like salads or sweet potato fries.
