Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 pcs egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the sauce and assembly

  • 1 jar marinara sauce Warm it up before combining with meatballs.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Use more if you prefer extra cheesiness.
  • 4 pcs hoagie rolls Substitute with sub rolls or baguettes if needed.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  • Place meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, until cooked through.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, warm marinara sauce over medium heat.
  • Once meatballs are cooked, combine them with the marinara sauce.
  • Cut hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Add meatball mixture into each roll and top with mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Serve Cheesy Meatball Subs hot, straight from the oven. They pair well with a side of chips or a simple salad.
  • Offer extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. For variations, use ground turkey or chicken, or prepare vegetarian options with plant-based meat or vegetables.
